Coming off Zoloft Cold Turkey - Update!

Well it's probably been about 6-8 weeks now since I've been on them and by now the chemicals should be pretty much out of my system.  Although I did have another brain zap yesterday, out of the blue, and I hadn't had that for quite a while but apart from that no other side affect.  My headaches have well and truly gone but unfortunately I still have the 'weight' so now I know it probably wasn't the zoloft that made me fat....bummer!

I'm also not feeling so run down or anything either.  Don't feel like I'm coming down with something anymore, almost back to normal in my energy levels.  Although I reckon I could still use some more energy ;)

Mood wise, I notice that when I'm agitated it's more pronounced.....which is probably what normal people feel like when they're not being doped up with zoloft LOL.  I still feel every emotion, but they are a little more exagerated than what they were while on the meds.

I'm learning who I am without the depression and without being on medication.  I've had to learn what my personality REALLY is, without all that.  And I don't think I've really figured it out yet.  At the moment I'm just going with the flow and letting it all happen.

I'm enjoying not flipping out everytime I come off my meds (by forgetting my prescription)...I realise I'm probably not as neurotic as I once thought LOL

So all in all it's been a positive move coming off zoloft and I'm very happy I did it!

Ive been on Zoloft for 5 years and for the first 4 years it was great. Then they upped my dose and I felt better. But my dr. just diagnosed me with Fibro and had me stop my Zoloft cold turkey and replace it with 30 mg of Cymbalta. I questioned my doctor about this cause I have always read to wean off of this drug. She assured me to stop it and take the Cymbalta. Took that for 5 days and receive the wonderful gift of the Flu, not the stomach Flu, the body ache Flu were every joint and muscle in your body hurts and feels like you have been hit by a Mac truck. Called the dr back and let her know I read up and did my research on the Cymbalta and the Flu is a side effect. I really think she thought I was crazy. She said no you have the Flu and nothing to do with the Cymbalta. She had me stop the Cymbalta on day 5 and replace it with Pristiq. Took that for one night and I had horrible sweating, drenched my night clothes and bed sheets. Thought at first it was wonderful because I must of broke my fever I had from the Flu and was going to start feeling better....wrong! I didn't take any more of the Pristiq and I'm riding out the Flu still after missing 3 days of work. Still feel horrible but it's improving. Have been very dizzy, horrible cough which has lead to bronchitis I'm almost possitive, head zaps, ear ache, chills, fever that kept going up as the days go by. My normal body temp is 95.4 (I know I'm not right :)) and temp was 100.1 the first day, 101.4 the second day and yesterday it reached 102.6. Called the dr. back again and spoke to my nurse who I love, and she said, girl we probably need to see you, well, let me talk to the doctor and call you back. She called me back within 5 minutes and said the dr wants me to stop ALL meds and make an appointment to see her on Monday. This was on Thursday....with my bronchitis I don't think it's a good idea to wait since I have chronic bronchitis and think I should have a standing RX for it, but I feel like crap! I respect my dr but at the same time I'm thinking I either need to go to the E.R. or Priority Care. With that all being said, I do not wish it on anyone to STOP Zoloft, Cymbalta or Pristiq cold turkey. Matter of fact, I don't recommend Cymbalta or Pristiq at all, they have horrible side effects and nasty withdrawls. I'm resorting to all natural supplements and gonna try that route as they don't have withdrawl symptoms if you decide to go off of them. Hope this helps someone :)
