Word of the Day #1

In light of a thread on bubhub, I've decided to add a new word to my vocabulary each day.  These 'words of the day' will come from Dictionary.com and I'll be adding the word and it's use in a sentence.

So here goes....

moratory -  \ MAWR-uh-tawr-ee \  , adjective;

Authorizing delay of payment.

Origin:
Moratory  is based on the Late Latin mora , "delay."
Example -  I called the bank to find out if I could put a moratory measure on our loan so as to not incurr late fees.
